As with any other digital marketing channel, affiliate marketing has its own best practices and even some unspoken rules that would be helpful for every affiliate, beginner or otherwise, to observe.

    It works the same way as any other sponsored posts with the difference being that you only get paid when a referral uses your link/code. A lot of viewers, followers, and readers find it distasteful if the publisher isn’t honest if they’re getting paid for the content they make, questioning its authenticity. So make it a habit to disclose your affiliate links and codes, otherwise you might find yourself with readers none too happy with your content! 

  2. Build Trust and Nurture Relationships

    Affiliate marketing is named as such for a reason. The focal point of this performance-based channel is the relationship you build as an affiliate with the advertisers you work with and your audience who will drive your sales.

    People decide to use your link/code because they trust you as an affiliate. You can opt to focus on pushing categories with the highest payout like Auto Insurance for high returns and less effort or go for high potential volume from best-selling categories such as Covid Insurance. 

    It’s also important to know your audience well and what they’re looking for. You might end up wasting your time pushing for a comprehensive auto insurance when majority of your target do not own cars yet.
