Difference of Affiliate Referral Link and Referral Code
Before you go through our
tips on how to get referrals and start looking for your very first customer, it's important for you to understand first the most fundamental component of being a Kwik.insure affiliate: the referral link and referral code. All affiliate programs and networks around the world uses an identifier for each publisher/affiliate to be able to track and attribute the sales they drive. And here at Kwik.insure, we use a referral link and a referral code to do that. Why two components, you might ask? Unlike other affiliate programs that use only a link, we use a link or a code as we want to give importance to both the first source and the last source of the sale. Let's dive in and see how your referral link and referral code will work.
Referral Link
The referral link is composed of your registered account's first name's initial and last name and is written in this format kwik.insure/at/jdoe. This is mainly used for your referrals to sign up from and create a Kwik.insure account. The main rule you should remember is this: once your referral creates an account through your link, you'll be able to earn from any purchase they make within 30 days. However, if they decide to purchase after 30 days, the transaction from that referral will "expire" and you won't earn a referral fee from any purchase they make. The referral link is used to credit the first source of the sale (you, the affiliate) and is ideal to give to new customers who don't have an existing Kwik account yet.
Referral Code
The referral code on the other hand is used upon the customer's checkout and credits the last source of the sale (you, the affiliate). It's composed of your registered account's first name's initial and last name like this jdoe. Always remember that the referral code supersedes the referral link. This means that the owner of the referral code will get the earnings from the sale regardless of whether the customer used another affiliate's referral link or not. To put it simply, if a customer used Person A's referral link but used Person B's referral code, Person B will receive the earning from the sale. The referral code has no expiration as well so even if the customer made a purchase after 30 days, it will still be attributed to you.
We hope this article has helped you understand more on how your referral link and referral code function. As
best practice, don't forget to share both your referral link and referral code. But when in doubt, you could never go wrong with giving your code to your referrals!
